The Safe Haven West Side Basketball League is beginning its 32nd season. Designed to provide neighborhood children with a safe supervised recreational activity during the winter months, the League consists of youngsters ages 8—18 who attend public, private and parochial schools and truly reflects the diversity of the West Side. Our Special Needs division, now in its 21st season, includes young children, pre-teens, teens and young adults from the five boroughs.
We are inviting businesses, organizations and individuals to show their support of the children in the community by sponsoring a team.
We started in 1988 with 130 players, 18 teams and three divisions; this year we look forward to approximately 1,000 players, 100 teams and eighteen divisions. Of these, six divisions are all-girls and three are geared to meet the special needs of players with developmental challenges.
The cost of team sponsorship is $500.00; the benefits in free advertising and community goodwill are priceless. Team sponsors will have names placed prominently on team uniforms and our website will feature links to our sponsors’ sites.
