A community-based family-oriented program, the League brings together players who attend public, private and parochial schools and, in every way, reflects the diversity of the West Side.
The Safe Haven West Side Basketball League is gearing up for its 31st season and we hope you will join us!
In 1988, three Upper West Side public school parents conceived of and created the League in order to give neighborhood children a safe, supervised recreational activity during the winter months. From early December to late March, games and practices are scheduled on weekends in public school gyms located on the Upper West Side.
Boys and girls ages 8 to 18 are welcome to participate. Last Season the League consists of eight boys’ divisions and four girl’s divisions as well as a Special Needs coed division.
Whether your child is a budding athlete trying on a new sport or a seasoned player s/he will have a great time developing new skills, meeting new friends and getting court smart in a low-key recreational environment.
So… save the dates and join us! See you on the court!
